The adaptation

It is not a mood. It is not a mindset. It is a measurable physiological capacity, expressed in the speed and precision with which your nervous system can move between sympathetic activation and parasympathetic recovery.

Heart rate variability, baroreflex sensitivity, and respiratory sinus arrhythmia have been quantifying this capacity for decades. The measurement was never the missing piece.

Not another pillar and not an equal partner. The foundation the rest is built on, and the first thing to fix when it is broken.

The primary stimulus

At resonance, heart rate and breath move as one.

Breathe at roughly six breaths a minute and something specific happens. Heart rate begins to rise and fall in phase with the breath, and the oscillation grows far larger than it is at any other rate. Every person has their own resonance frequency, and finding yours is the first piece of real work in the training.

That is the training stimulus. Not calm, not relaxation. A large, repeated, measurable oscillation that loads the baroreflex the way a barbell loads a muscle. Each breath is a rep. Each ten minute session is a workout.

A model is only worth as much as the practice it produces. The Resilient Engine app measures the nervous system each morning, scores every breath during training, and builds the clinical reports that show whether the adaptation is actually happening.
